Why is it that once released from prison many are still punished for the rest of their lives?

I served 7 years and 7 months of an 8 year federal drug trafficking sentence. Once released I served an additional 3 years 9 months supervised release. (probation)

I have officially completed 11 years and 4 months of the Federal Government's TIME. I have completed this long and arduous process I am still haunted by my FELONY conviction. I am 35 yrs old and having difficulty finding a job - temp services keep giving me the run around, other jobs simply don't call back. How am I suppose to take care of my family. Don't get me wrong, I have operated my own business since 2003 - but sometimes, especially in the winter months things slow down to a crawl. Four-Tre Productions, LLC has kept me from a life of crime. I have been "FREE" since September 2002. I have two children prior to becoming incarcerated, they are 14 and 16. I love my children til death, but I'm in a position where I can't afford to do the things I would like to do. Child Support is on my back kind of hard - they have already taken my driver's license in 12/05, this makes getting around even harder. With no valid driver's license I am dependant upon others constantly.

Why does this system have nothing to perserve the lives of men and women who have served their time and attempting to become model citizens in this cut throat society?

I'm trying to hold on the best way that I know - but this feeling of worthlessness and misery are the same feelings that I felt in 89' when I initially started selling drugs.

How can you say you know my heart or understand a pain buried deep in agony's well? Where misery is captured with every breath I take and hope for the future escapes each time I exhale.

Have you ever looked forward to disappointment, or accepted depression as your friend? Have you ever thrived on hate, just to stay awake and relate in a world of sin?

Have you ever slept with confusion and conceived a child, whose reality is an illusion cursed through genetic denial?

Have you ever looked death in the eyes, ready to die, waiting on it to kill? But to your suprise it sarcastically replies, "LIVE!"

Have you ever felt 3/4ths of your soul burn like hot coals while 1/4 remains froze?

Have you ever danced with rage without music being played? Have you and distrust been engaged?

All these things I am doing, year after year. So to know my heart or understand my pain, you must accept advice from unforgiveness and remain sincere to fear.
